Oct 21 - Due to excessive rain, the cross country field has been closed to horses for the winter wet season (people and dogs are permitted on the field).  The water jump has been drained and all the portable XC fences have been put up on blocks to keep them out of standing water.
                PLEASE RESPECT THE FIELD CLOSURE!!!

Jul 28-30 - All Ages Event Camp, Meg Finn, clinician.  There is only room for 12 horses, so get your entry in soon... (checks will not be cashed until right before camp)  Note: Camp is currently filled, but we are keeping a wait list.

May 26 - Water Jump cleaning work party!  6pm for pizza, 6:30pm we start cleaning.  Bring gloves and a plastic manure fork.  PLEASE RSVP to [email protected] so that we have enough pizza!!! With 10 volunteers, it will be done in about 1-1/2 hours.  Come and join us!
June 5 - Benefit Dressage clinic with Dawn Morgan at Broken Auger Farm in Ferndale.  
June 8 - Trail Obstacle Schooling Night!  6pm - 8pm
June 19 - Cross Country jumping clinic with Meg Finn.
July 30 - *Traffic Control Only!*  A large family picnic will happen at the park from around 2pm to 4pm.  They will be using the picnic tables and the paddocks. They will be parking down around the paddocks to leave the gravel lot free for other users.
July 17 - Aug 4: Water jump is closed for a major renovation to the base and liner. (See the main page for more details)
Aug 5-7: All Ages Event Camp.  Clinician will be Meg Finn. Auditors welcome, no charge.
 Camp will have exclusive use of the paddocks all weekend, the round pen at times, the arena on Friday afternoon from noon to 5pm, the arena from 8am to 2pm on Saturday.  This is a FOSF fund raising event and all proceeds stay at the Park for maintenance and improvements.

Would you or your equestrian group like to host an event at the park?

The Friends of Sunset Farm welcomes other equestrian groups to organize activities at Sunset Farm.  Park scheduling is done by the Friends of Sunset Farm, not the Parks Dept.  Organized activities require a Certificate of Liability Insurance and permission of Whatcom County Parks (see Special Event Application below).

Below are two .pdf  files, the first one is how to get your activity on the calendar.  The second is the  Special Event Application that is required by the Parks Department for final approval of your activity.
A $100 non-refundable application fee is required when submitting the Special Event Application. However, one can apply for several events at the same time and there is only one fee. This fee is payable to the Whatcom County Parks and Recreation  (not FOSF).

The application MUST be sent to the Parks Dept. ninety days before the date of your activity.
